Cookies, without the tricks.
Essential storage and your optional analytics choice.
Essential session cookie
ed_session is a first-party opaque, HttpOnly cookie linking your browser to a server-side account session or temporary guest visit. It uses SameSite=Lax. Account sessions expire after 12 hours; guest visits after two hours. Signing out clears your session. HTTPS connections use a Secure cookie.
Browser storage
ed:favourites stores guest favourites on this device and ed:motion stores your effects preference. ed:round: and ed:reminder: session-storage keys keep retry identifiers and reminder timing within this tab. The renderer also uses ed: game keys for temporary visual state. None of this storage saves a guest balance between visits.
Your control
Remove browser storage in your browser settings, or remove individual favourites using their heart buttons. Blocking the essential session cookie prevents authentication and secure game requests. Guest balances are not stored in local storage.
Optional analytics storage
With your permission, Google Analytics 4 measures visits to public pages, device and browser information and approximate location. Google processes this information on our behalf, potentially on servers outside the United Kingdom. We do not send account names, email addresses, form contents, URL queries, password-reset tokens or game balances to Analytics. Advertising storage, Google signals and advertising personalisation remain disabled.
The Google tag loads only after acceptance. The first-party cookies _ga and _ga_* distinguish visits and sessions and are configured to expire after at most 180 days. The local-storage entry ed:analytics-consent:v1 remembers your choice for up to 180 days.
Accept, decline or withdraw at any time in Storage preferences. Withdrawal stops future measurement and clears Analytics cookies; it does not delete reports already collected. See Google’s Privacy Policy for its processing practices.
